Sharon and Jaya's Wedding ― Our Story

In mid July, 2002, Jaya entered the characteristics for his soulmate into the match.com website. He made a point of asking for exactly what he wanted, sparing nothing. Sharon's name answered the search. Our first date was to "Down From the Mountain" a concert of old-time and bluegrass music. Sharon was newly involved in Irish music, and was quite impressed. However, it wasn't until our third date, when the fact that Jaya had a degree in marine biology (as does she) came to light, that Sharon realized that Jaya was a kindred spirit.

In December, Sharon joined Jaya at the jujitsu camp near San Diego. when Sharon asked Jaya why he had brought her―a non martial artist―to the camp, Jaya said, "Because this is my family, this is what I do, I want you to know who I am."

In April of 2003 we vacationed in Ireland. On Wednesday, April 23rd, on the banks of the Lakes of Killarney, Jaya asked Sharon to marry him. Sharon said yes. We looked up, and saw the twin trail of a jet plane crossing the sky. Jaya said, "Whenever you see one of those, think of us, always side by side."

In May, Sharon and Jaya and Sharon's son Andrew moved to Dublin, California to the Amador Lakes Apartments. Because of the Lakes of Killarney, we decided to name our home Lochhaven. Jaya now joins Sharon playing Irish music, and Lochhaven is often filled with jigs, reels, hornpipes, waltzes and airs from the emerald isle. We want our wedding to reflect the music and joy we have found in each other.
